CBD and hearing: can it be a good treatment?

There are some health disorders that are very obvious, however, there are others that are practically invisible and very silent, especially those related to hearing. However, those who suffer them are very aware every day of the difficulties they must face. Therefore, it is logical that they look for the best treatments. In the following lines we want to show you the relationship between CBD and hearing.

What are the most common hearing problems?

Before showing you how you can treat hearing problems, we want to focus on those that are most commonly suffered, they are these:

Hearing loss It is about the partial or total inability to hear in one or both ears. Some of the symptoms suffered by people with hearing loss are that they cannot follow conversations easily, they do not hear well in very noisy environments and you have difficulty perceiving high-pitched sounds. There are different degrees, depending on the hearing loss.

Presbycusis. This disorder appears due to the aging of the hair cells, which are found in the inner ear and which are responsible for capturing sounds. The normal thing is that it manifests itself from the age of 60, when it happens, the patient has difficulty hearing the lowest sounds and can hear ringing in the ears. It is a disorder that has no cure, but its effects can be alleviated with the use of hearing aids.

Tinnitus. The person suffering from tinnitus perceives all kinds of sounds inside their ears that do not exist. In most cases, it is the symptom of other health problems. Sometimes correcting this health problem calms them down, but in others they will be for life and the patient will have to learn to live with them.

Otitis. Otitis is a very common disease, especially among children. It affects the posterior part of the eardrum, the Eustachian troop, and the mastoid. Its origin is usually an infection that causes the ear to swell, in addition, fluid can accumulate. The symptoms are intense pain, fever, irritability and in some cases the suppuration of that fluid that has accumulated.

Menière syndrome. It is a chronic disease of the inner ear. Those who suffer from it not only have hearing problems, but also balance problems. Although it can occur at any age, it usually manifests between 40 and 60 years. In addition to dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss may also appear.

How does CBD and hearing work?

Some studies reinforce the idea that cannabinoids can be of great help for people who suffer from hearing problems. They manage to inhibit the action of a receptor called TRPV1, which is responsible for some of these disorders.

Some research suggests that if the cannabinoid receptor is activated, it could create an action in the cochlear nucleus and cannabis could help patients suffering from tinnitus. They could also be effective in fighting hearing loss.

It is true that further research will be necessary, but the relationship between CBD and hearing seems clear.
